Measuring For Inside Mount
Shutters Installed Inside the Window Frame:

- Measure the window width and height in at least 3 places. Use the smallest of the dimensions.

- Window must be square- If measurements differ by more than 1/4", use an outside installation.

-Traditional shutters require 1-1/4" deep frame for clearance to operate properly. If the frame is not deep enough, use an outside installation.
- Select the closest size to your window opening. Shutter sets are listed with 2 widths (such as 23" to 25"). This means that the overall width of the shutter set, for inside installtion, is adjustable from 23" to 25" with the use of E/Z Strips.

- Traditional shutters may be trimmed in length up to 3/4" on top and 1-1/4" on the bottom, but only 1/4" from the top and 1-1/4" off the bottom of plantation shutter sets.

Measuring For Outside Mount
Shutters Installed Outside the Window Frame- On the face of the frame or on wall:

- Measure width and height of the area to be covered in 3 different places. Use the widest of the measurements. Select the size closest to your area.

-Important-Use only the smaller width of the set that matches the area to be covered. For instance, the total width of the shutter set you select should be about 2-1/2" wider than the inside of the window. Compare that to the smaller number of the width of a set, such as 31" of the 31" to 33" set. Call us if you are unsure about the proper sizing for an outside mount.
- If you window has has a molding, the shutters can be installed outside and over the moldings. In this case, measure the total width from outside of one molding to the other. You may mount the shutters on the molding or on the wall.

- E/Z Strips may also be used to for additional clearance if your window is not deep enough or to clear large moldings. See installation instructions.

-Shutter length may be trimmed as shown above.
