Installation Instructions
NOTE: This installation information applies to stock sets of traditional shutters, NOT to our Custom Plantation Shutters.
Installation For Inside Mounts:
- Measure the width and height of your window opening.
- Lay the shutter set down on a flat surface. Measure the total width and length of the set and compare to window.
-The E/Z Strips, if necessary, fit between the hanging strips and the window frame. They form a decorative beading and act as a filler in the width. Adjust the width by removing as many E/Z Strips as necessary. Each strip is 1/8" thick. Remove strips equally from each side. If you remove too many, just snap them back in place.
-The height of the shutters may be trimmed up to 3/4" on top and 1-1/2" on the bottom. Use a fine tooth circular saw, trimming one shutter panel at a time. Do not exceed maximum recommended trimming.
-Once the set is trimmed for proper width and height, remove hanging strips from shutters and screw to the sides of the window opening. Use all screw holes to properly distribute the weight. Use the proper length screws provided for the number of E/Z Strips used. Be sure the hang strips are level across and adjust sides with shims if sides are not plumb so everything squares up and is even.
-Hang shutters on hinges (already installed from factory), and finish up by applying pulls and hooks. |

Installation For Outside Mount:
- Measure the width and height of your area you want to cover.
- Lay the shutter set down on a flat surface. Measure the total width and length of the set and compare to window.
-The height of the shutters may be trimmed up to 3/4" on top and 1-1/2" on the bottom. Use a fine tooth circular saw, trimming one shutter panel at a time. Do not exceed maximum recommended trimming.
-Once the set is trimmed for proper height, remove hanging strips from shutters and screw on both sides of the window opening. Drill through the face of the hanging strip with at least one hole for every 1-2 foot in length to properly distribute the weight. Use the proper length screws provided for the number of E/Z Strips used. Be sure the hang strips are level across and the sides are plumb so everything squares up and is even.
-The E/Z Strips, if necessary, fit between the hanging strips and the wall for extra clearance. Simply use as many as needed to build out the shutter set. Simply drill through the hanging strips and E/Z Strips and into the wall. Be sure and use proper anchoring devices if required.
-Hang shutters on hinges (already installed from factory), and finish up by applying pulls and hooks. |

For Wide Windows Using Multiple Sets:
-When using multiple shutter sets to cover wider windows, simply attach the hanging strip of one set to another and secure the middle hanging strips at the top and bottom with nails, screws, or some other anchoring device, such as small L brackets as appropriate for the type of installation involved. E/Z Strips may be used between hanging strips if necessary for final width adjustments. |
